Forum Luft- und Raumfahrt Baden-Württemberg e.V.

The Forum Aerospace Baden-Württemberg (LR BW) represents the interests and voice of the aerospace industry in southwestern Germany. We are the network hub between economy, science, politics and society. By means of networking, we increase the global competitiveness of local companies – with a particular focus on the medium-sized supplier industry.

Besides personal communication, our events and working groups also enable exchange on technological issues and challenges along the supply chain. Joint trade fair appearances, entrepreneurs’ trips and projects expand market opportunities and facilitate market development for our member companies.

Project “e-Flying”

The Forum LRBW coordinates the project “e-Flying”, which tests and demonstrates “energy efficient, electric and autonomous flying” and is funded by the Ministry of Economy, Labor and Housing. The aim is to promote 3D mobility and, by testing autonomous systems, to promote technology transfer to other sectors. Furthermore, we plan to develop competencies in the electrical industry and in lightweight construction, which will also enable unmanned flight systems and the various civilian areas of application involved.

Besides the LRBW Forum, other project partners are the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO, the Institute of Work Science and Technology and the Institute of Aircraft Design of the University of Stuttgart. A joint study is currently investigating possible application scenarios for electrified and autonomous flights and developing requirements for the possible airfields. The company eVolo Bruchsal, better known as Volocopter is the industrial partner for this project.
